Seven years ago, Brooke was diagnosed with granulosa, a rare form of cancer that is incurable. It recurred four times over the last seven years, and her last CT scan shows that the tumors have grown and multiplied, bringing her to Stage 4 terminal cancer. The doctor gave her a year to live, maybe less. Brooke is an amazing woman. We've been dear friends for over 25 years. She is loving, creative, giving (usually beyond her means), and full of hope regardless of the myriad issues life has thrown at her. Recently she was homeless because rent in Maine is horribly high and she lives on a very meager disability check. The fact that she has terminal cancer did not push her higher on the wait lists. Her autistic child had to live elsewhere in a safe place while Brooke searched desperately for a home. They now live with friends. I want Brooke's last year of life to be as magickal as possible. She asked me if she could wait on paying me her phone bill because her child's 18th birthday is later this month, and she wants to be able to buy presents. (I don't intend to let her pay any more phone bills). Brooke deserves to have her days filled with glory and peace. I do what I can for her but I, too, am on disability. With these funds, we will be able to get Brooke to her weekly cancer treatments and maybe some special trips and treats. If anyone deserves it, it's this amazing woman. She is also in need of hypoallergenic bathing items and lotion, as her SSDI funding for such was cut by 2/3 and only provides her $10 a month now for these items. She also has a child still living at home for whom she pays rent. Please give as you are able and share if you can. Thank you and bless you.
