Our family is setting up this fundraiser for the journey of Shawn Hass. As most of you know Shawn has had numerous health issues over the past several years but has been especially hit hard in the last few months with multiple hospital stays. Recently he had heart surgery, a finger amputated, his thumb fused and in July he had his right leg amputated just below the knee. He continues to have kidney failure and will be doing dialysis at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener four days a week as he is not able to do home dialysis at this time. He continues to wait for a kidney transplant due to being in renal failure and it is unknown at this time when this will happen. He will continue to meet with various specialists for all of his medical conditions and will eventually need to have a prosthetic leg fitted and then months of physiotherapy to relearn how to walk. We are trying to raise funds for Shawn, his wife Tracy and their son Spencer through this time as this is an extremely difficult time for all of them. Currently, Shawn is on CPP-D and is on a fixed income, Tracy has had to miss several days of work caring for Shawn and there is a lot of funds that are not covered that they must pay for. Going forward we are looking to raise money for the loss of wages for Tracy, ever-increasing gas prices, parking prices for multiple hospital visits throughout the week, meals and the upkeep of general bills that they have. One of the biggest but unknown costs at the moment is potentially having to cover a prosthetic leg in the future. These can cost thousands of dollars and only so much funding is available to him. The rising costs of daily living have made it very difficult for them to keep up with bills and the unknown of what is to come makes this extremely overwhelming for them. We would greatly appreciate any kind of support you could offer to Shawn and his family. This has been an incredibly long journey already and will continue to be a struggle for the foreseeable future. Shawn means the world to us and the support that you provide will be so impactful in their lives. I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their love, support and donations to this amazing guy and his family.
