Greetings! My name is Seth Halverson and I am currently serving on the teen staff ministry team at Camp-of-the-Woods (COTW) in Speculator, NY. This summer opportunity truly came up unexpectedly and could only be described as a gift from God, and one that has helped realign my life in pursuit of Him. Since my arrival in mid-June, I have developed great relationships with both the staff and campers, deepened my relationship with the Lord, led events and small groups, embarked on adventures in the Adirondack Mountains, and seen how God has placed his hand in all these things. Since my arrival date, COTW has shared details of a program they offer called Leaders in Further Training (LIFT). LIFT is a year-long discipleship program designed to train people into the “godly leader God has called you to be.” The LIFT program is by no means a year-long getaway, it features intense and rigorous work in 6 forms: servant leadership, Christian community, academics, professional development, missional living, and outdoor adventure. That first day of camp, a seed was planted, and it continued to grow over the summer. From day 1, I placed the idea of the LIFT program in the back of my mind. The following weeks, I had heard whispers and eavesdropped on conversations with current LIFTers describing the experience as being the best and most rewarding of their life, and how much it deepened their faith. I then started to hear from my own leaders in the teen program talking about their time in LIFT in greater detail and how much it has impacted them in their life and walk with Christ, and I also see how it drives their desire to serve. I decided to put in an application, and I am proud to say I have been formally invited to be a part of LIFT for the 2024-2024 year. I believe the LIFT program is the next step of faith I need to jump into. That step of faith is starting right now through my making of this LFEBridge. I dislike the idea of being one to ask for money and admitting I cannot do it all on my own, but it’s true. Given the nature of the program, its schedule and manner of work, I will not be able to be employed anywhere making a steady income until next summer, when the final part of the LIFT program involves a paid leadership role in the 2024 summer staff. As for the cost of the LIFT program: Tuition to enroll in the program is $1000 Living expenses come out to $350/month With these numbers, the total cost is $4,500 One of the sayings from LIFT is “God’s kingdom is going to advance whether we are a part of it or not... so be a part of it.” I want to be a part of it. If you are reading this and are willing to spare anything to help in my endeavor, you will also play a part in spreading God’s kingdom. Any amount would help and be greatly appreciated. Even if you cannot give, I would highly appreciate and be thoroughly encouraged by prayers, advice, kind words, scriptures shared, or other contributions, such as specific gear needed. If you would like to give through other mediums, I have: Venmo: @sejohal Cashapp: $Sehal Zelle: Contact me If you are interested in hearing more details about the program, please visit https://www.camp-of-the-woods.org/lift I am so excited for this next chapter of my life and how God will work through and around me. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance for any contributions made. God bless!
