Hello friends and family! My name is Shannon Gatewood and I have the pleasure of being Sean Hacker's aunt. On the evening of June 28th, 2024, Sean went to the emergency room with worrying symptoms including a terrible headache, neck pain, numbness in his fingers and vomiting. He was quickly transferred to Froedtert Memorial Hospital and through testing was found to be having a hemorrhagic stroke due to a ruptured aneurysm. On June 29th, he had a craniotomy to clip the aneurysm and to evacuate the bleeding. He then spent twelve days in the neuro ICU under close monitoring, while receiving therapies. There were a few frightening times as his status changed throughout his stay in the ICU. After a few days on a regular hospital floor for continued monitoring, he was discharged from the hospital. Sean will be living at home with his parents for the foreseeable future. He has many follow-up appointments, scans, and therapies in the weeks to come. On behalf of our whole family, thank you so very much to those family members and friends that we reached out to during this scary time for your continued prayers for Sean. Thank you for checking in on Mark, Susan and Ben and for supporting them during Sean's hospitalization! Words can not express our relief that Sean's recovery has been going so well and that he's home! If you don't know Sean, he is a graduate of Germantown High School and UW-Madison (electrical engineering). He is currently employed via a temp agency with a position at Milwaukee Tool. Sean has an apartment in Germantown and a close-knit group of friends. As a young adult of 25, he does not have significant savings for the situation that he currently finds himself in. He has monthly expenses including rent and student loans, etc. Sean's medical deductible is also significant and he will be responsible for a portion of his medical bills. At this point, we are unsure when he will be able to return to work and his independent life. I would like to help alleviate his worries about his finances so that he can concentrate on healing and rehabilitation. These funds will go directly towards Sean's monthly bills and medical bills, while he is away from work. Sean would like to add that if there are leftover funds, he will donate them to the Immune Deficiency Foundation. Thank you so very much for your time and donation! Love, Shannon and the Hacker family
