If anyone has met my dad, you know he’s hard headed and hilarious. Not as much as me, of course, but I can see where I get it from. He’s a son, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, and friend to so many who love him. In August of 2024, my dad, Sean Gale, was quietly diagnosed with Rectal cancer. He was reluctant to tell anyone, in hopes to fight the battle alone to avoid upsetting his loved ones. His doctors were amazed at the lengths he would go to beat this thing. Dad checked himself out of the hospital early so that he could get back to his full time job to support his family. He went through an aggressive regiment of radiation and chemotherapy the winter of 2024 and had his tumor removed in May of 2024. Followup visits looked hopeful and his doctors assured him that he was cancer free and could start to relax. The past few months, Sean has been dedicated to helping his brother fight brain cancer. Sadly, it's time for my dad to gear up for his own battle. In late December of this year, Sean’s scans showed the cancer had spread to his liver. The doctors in Memphis gave us some grim news that those of us who love him can't accept. In typical fashion, dad immediately researched and found that the best doctors for his type of cancer are in New York and California. As all other treatments since December have failed, it's time to seek out new treatments from specialists. We are asking for your help right now to support my dad and Virginia while they fight for Sean's life. His first appointment is next week in New York, followed by California next month. They have yet another long road ahead of them. They will both need to take work off and travel, on top of paying for Sean's mounting medical bills. I'm hoping that we as a community can overwhelm my dad with much needed support. I need him, just as much as his wife and my siblings need him.
