In 1973, a newly married couple with a 3 month old baby girl made their way to Angola to begin their work as missionaries at the Cuale Mission. The father was a registered nurse who was put in charge of a small hospital and served as a minister for the mission and nearby villages. The mother taught the village children about the Love of God while raising her baby girl. During this time, Angola was governed by the Portuguese. In 1975 in a nearby city, they declared their Independence and a long 27 year civil war began. This family was advised to leave the mission. They left with just a few belongings and the little girl's crib was placed on the back of a truck and off they went. The war took a toll on this mission. Rebel forces used the mission as a base. When leaving the mission, they made sure to leave it in ruins. The church, hospital, elementary school, theology school, men's housing and other structures were left unusable. Forty eight years later this family returned to the mission. Their hearts were filled with joy upon seeing old friends and with making new ones. At the same time, they were so sadden on seeing the destruction and neglect of the mission. I am that little girl and it has become my family's goal to restore this mission. Our goal is to restore the church for teaching the Word of God, to rebuild the school for all the neighboring village children to attend for free, to rebuild the hospital that serves the area at no cost, housing for students & staff, clean water, electricity and proper sanitation. The neighboring Sobas (tribal chiefs) have authorized us to restore and rebuild the property. For that, we need your help. Our goal right now is to raise $50,000. If additional funds are needed to complete the project, we will continue fundraising. All donations collected will be transferred directly to the mission through a third party. Thanks in advance for any contribution. No amount is too small. You may follow this page for project updates. We will post monthly updates. May God touch your hearts and bless you.
