Hi, my name is Gio and I am starting a GoFund me for my great friend Rebecca Beveridge. Rebecca was recently diagnosed with a rare condition, Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), a disease characterized by inflammation of the blood vessels, which can restrict blood flow and damage vital organs and tissues. EGPA can affect the lungs, sinuses, skin, heart, intestinal tract, kidneys, nerves and other organs. EGPA attacks the body’s own cells and tissues. Even with effective treatment, EGPA is a chronic illness with cycles of relapse and remission that can cause serious health problems, so ongoing medical care is necessary. Overall, without treatment, the 5-year survival rate in EGPA is about 25%. With treatment, the 1-year survival rate is 90% and the 5-year survival rate is 62%. This disease has impeded Rebecca’s ability to live a normal life and mother her children effectively. She’s received some support from the Kinsmen Foundation for some mobility aids, including a new scooter to help her get around. They do however require a locking shed so the scooter doesn’t get stolen. Shes’s to have this in place before they deliver the scooter. The GoFund me funds are to help pay for the new shed. Rebecca’s quality of life has been drastically impacted. She is a single mom in Recovery and a violin teacher, unable to work anymore. Although it has shaken her to the core and she’s had to come to accept her new reality, she works hard every day to maintain a positive and hopeful attitude for the sake of her family, especially her kids. As mentioned, the funds donated will go directly to Rebecca so she can purchase the shed in a timely manner and have her new scooter delivered as soon as possible. Please help my friend as she navigates this incredibly challenging transition in life. Rebecca is an amazing mom, upstanding member of the Recovery community and most importantly, a survivor. Let’s give her the help she deserves!
