The Charleston music community is known for being able to unite and bring a one of a kind voice to causes that otherwise fly in silence. This LFEBridge is being created on behalf of our brother, friend, and rising staple in the local music scene, Amita Fukui-one half of the band Black Zola with Joshua Gecowets, and co-writer, vocalist for the group Rhodium with Indi Gxld. For the last 4 years, Amita has been silently fighting through a serious medical condition called 'chronic venous insufficiency' that has drastically affected the mobility in his legs. This condition is the result of a lack of blood flow, which causes damage to muscle tissue. This misdistribution of blood and necessary cells results in lymphatic complications which prevents healing and ultimately deteriorates the skin tissue of the affected area. Despite the severity of this condition, Amita has been been building a legacy in the local music scene as lead singer and co-creator of Black Zola and Rhodium, and also being an active and familiar face in the Soul Power Productions movement headed by Slim S.O.U.L. We are coming together to create this LFEBridge for two reasons: to raise funds for Amita to have the necessary surgeries and recover from years of chronic pain, medical financial loss, and occupational disability. to show the power of unity and its relevance in the Charleston community through the conduit of music and art so that he can stand tall for himself, his family, friends, and this music family he has helped establish. After being declined through insurance twice and his conditioning worsening daily-Amita, Black Zola and his close circle are reaching out to you-the Charleston Community, from all corners: music, entertainment, businesses etc. We ask that you come to The Charleston Pour House, July 31st to support and raise money through Soul Power Productions for Amita's intensive vascular leg surgery. You can donate here through the LFEBridge or you can come donate and support in person July 31st.
