Historic St Donato Church in Overbrook, Philadelphia, PA, is in extreme need of your help! This beautiful historic church stands tall and majestically at the top of 65th & Callowhill Streets, watching over the city of Philadelphia. The Society of St Frances Cabrini of Philadelphia is asking for your help in raising money to make the extremely necessary repairs to St Donato Church. On July 6, 2024, a massive hole developed in the roof over the sanctuary. The recent rains have been causing damage, particularly to the beautiful mural of the Crucified Christ on the wall behind the altar. This historic, grand, majestic church was listed on Philadelphia's Register of Historic Places in April of 2024 due to its historic relationship with St Frances Cabrini. St Donato Church was the only church in Philadelphia that St Frances Cabrini (Mother Cabrini) worshiped in from 1912 - 1914. St Frances Cabrini the first American Saint, and the first American female Saint, who was blessed with the title "Saint of Immigrants," traveled to help the pastor of St Donato with the large influx of Italian immigrants and their families at the time. Imagine the corner of 65th & Callowhill without this grand, sacred church. Imagine the corner of 65th & Callowhill just being a large weeded hole. Let's make sure that what happened to Most Blessed Sacrament aka the former Rosary Church at 63rd & Callowhill does not happen to St Donato Church. The Society of St Frances Cabrini of Philadelphia must raise $1,000,000 to make the much-needed repairs to this great sacred and historic church. All donations and money raised will go to fund all repairs and the establishment of a shrine in honor of St Frances Cabrini. Even the smallest donation will go a long way toward making an impact.
