Hello everyone, we’ve started this fundraising for our cousin Claire. Two months ago Claire was a healthy young woman, working full time and living her life with just the everyday worries like everyone else.  Claire lives in Uganda, shes is 32 and she is an orphan that was raised by our Grandmother in Uganda.  Up until her illness , she was working as a head of Human Resources department at Sai Office Supplies Ltd. And in Rwanda before that. Claire should be thinking about furthering her career, meeting new people, starting a family, enjoying some of the best years of her life but instead she is now fighting for her life.   Two months ago, Claire’s health started to decline and we were unsure on what was happening . The hospital that she was in were unable to identify what the problem was . She lost her appetite , began to swell , developed ulcers and her blood pressure began to rise. Her health continued to decline and she became hospital bound. At this point , we decided to move her to a different hospital . There she was diagnosed with kidney failure and slowly before our eyes, the healthy young woman started to deteriorate. The old Claire we knew, who was full of life, had slowly disappeared.  Now she needs dialysis twice a week to survive, and will need it until she is able to get a kidney transplant. She is currently attending a mission hospital in Nsambya in Kampala. There is no free health care or welfare in Uganda , so the cost of the treatment and all the accompanying people will have to be raised by her family in order to get the medical care she needs. Uganda currently doesn't perform kidney transplants, so Claire would have to travel to India, Kenya or South Africa to get the operation. The cost of transplant is approximately $19,000 (£15,000) The cost of the before and aftercare and someone to travel with her will approximately cost $5000 (£4000)   For someone in Uganda, these costs are unimaginable, Not only do we have to find the money for the transplant but she also needs financial support for the weekly dialysis (£120 per week) until she gets the transplant.  We are appealing for any help and support that people can provide   This was Claire before her diagnosis.  This is Claire now.....
