I am a friend of Sandra Stephens, our children go to school together and have for a long time. Sandra is one of the mostkind human beings I have met. We have worked together on several projects and our mutual school, and she is always asking how to help, and she is always full of great ideas, especially ones that help bring people together (and we are talking a really diverse group of personalities).... Sandra would be the first to ask, how can I help - so at this time, my first thought was how could I help this family! Sandra, as most know, fell super ill toward the end of May. She was rushed to the hospital and found to be in liver failure. Since that time she has spent many more days in the hospital than at home. She is currently at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. Sandra has undergone many tests, and she needs to clear several more in order to be eligible for a liver transplant. Complicating matters is that Sandra, and her husband Jim, and son Austin, have been caring for Sandra's mother who has a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. I am sure you can imagine the strain on the household as Sandra is hospitalized and Jim and Austin try to make trips to see her while having to work, run the household and care for her mom. The goal of the fundraiser at this time is to help provide extra funds for the family to order weekly groceries to be delivered, take out meals as sometimes prepping meals is difficult, and gas and parking money to go to and from the city hospital etc., Any amount is a help. ****PLEASE NOTE when making a donation on this platform a spot for a TIP comes up - they automatically fill in an amount as a percentage of your donation - you need to adjust it to what you feel is right - whether that be zero dollars or 5 dollars ******* Additionally if you are uncomfortable donating through a platform (a small amount of your donation will go to LFEBridge to cover the cost of processing it and running the site), please consider mailing a gift card, or even simply a get well card to bring some cheer.
