The Service Charge at Rowntree Wharf & Cocoa Suites has increased significantly over recent years and, whilst the Service Charge Working Group (SCWG), in conjunction with the Rowntree Wharf & Cocoa Suites Residents Association (RWCS), has been working to investigate and contest this, we have reached the point where we would benefit from seeking professional advice. This is likely to be in the form of solicitors to see if we have a case to take legal action. In the event that outstanding accounts are provided in the meantime, making legal action unnecessary, we would employ the services of an accountant to analyse any accounts provided to us. Both options will incur costs. We are therefore looking for donations to pursue this course of action with a suggested donation of £20 - although, of course, we welcome donations of any value (lower or higher) and this is only intended as a guide. The figure of £1,500 is based on quotes we have received from solicitors to take an initial look at any relevant information we provide in order to advise if we have a legal case against the Freeholder. Once we have this advice we would seek the opinions of leaseholders before taking next steps. If we were, with the support of leaseholders, to take legal action against the freeholder we would fundraise further for this. If we employ the services of a solicitor, based on quotes received, the total amount of £1,500 would be used. If we were to employ the services of an accountant, and in the unlikely event that some of the £1,500 was left over we would donate this remaining money to St Leonards Hospice. If we do not reach the target of £1,500 by 31st August, then all donations will be returned.
