Once upon a time in a place not so far from home, a family had a dream... one with cake and cookies and maybe some sugar plum fairies. This family had sugar in their blood and a dream. So they sold their home, packed their lives and pursued that dream. That dream came with risk, but all good things do. We hitched up our pants, put on our gloves and invested more elbow grease than we thought we had. From day one, nothing was as expected, but when you're all in, you just keep pushing through. And now, just months into this adventure, we are stumped. We are having problems with the landlord but needed a year (at the most) to purchase. But the terms kept changing, and the price kept going up. She told us we had to be out in 5 days, so we shut the doors to the business. Then she went online and started publicly telling people our personal financials to make herself appear justified, grossly exaggerating and leaving out her own culpability. We thought we'd tuck tail and slip away. I was ashamed of our failure. But instead, I want to fight. Fight for the bakery, fight for my family, fight for our dream. We sold our home and invested our life savings into this. And if we walk away now, we walk away with absolutely nothing. Please help us find a way to keep this dream going. Not just for us, but our community. Money donated will help with legal fees, and God willing, help us find a new place to call home and reopen the bakery. Because we just aren't willing to give up yet, and we hope you don't want us to either.
