On behalf of Ron Baughcum aka Lifeline, a LFEBridge has been established to help offset financial expenses acquired due to a single-vehicle motorcycle accident. The devastating accident occurred on Sunday, July, 9th 2024 in Upson County, GA. Ron was ejected from his motorcycle and was then flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA, where he is currently in critical condition. Ron is on a ventilator and injuries that have been found so far include a fractured skull, multiple fractures on his spine and face, a broken jaw, and a broken eye socket. His brain is extremely bruised and as a result, he remains unconscious. A pressure-relieving catheter was inserted into his skull and has remained to help relieve the swelling. As of right now, doctors do not have a confirmed prognosis, but he is making positive progress. Ron is a single source income provider to his finance Holly and her daughter Kylie. Ron works as an industrial welder on construction job sites taking him where he is needed, often traveling hundreds of miles away from home. If he does not go to work, he does not get paid. The road to recovery will be a long one and he will be unable to work throughout the process. Holly will serve as continued support and caretaker. The family is asking for your help in maintaining the day-to-day bills as well as the tremendous medical bills that are to follow this tragic accident. Ron is known in his local community as "LifeLine". He earned that nickname from friends who often call on him when they are in desperate need of repairs to equipment or favors, often not charging friends or the local community for his time. Ron is a 47-year-old Navy Veteran who served in multiple conflicts overseas. He saved multiple lives as a rescue diver and has spent his whole life serving and protecting others. Ron continues to serve others in his community as a lifetime member and trustee of the Marion Mathews VFW Post 6542. He is always there, for everyone in every capacity. He is currently in desperate need of your help. Ron and the family thank each of you greatly for your thoughts, prayers, time and gifts. If you don't feel comfortable donating online please contact Captain Jack‭ - (478) [phone redacted] ‬for an address. UPDATE: August 14, 2024 Ron is now in stable condition and is making strides towards rehab. His body has healed wonderfully, and we are patiently waiting on him to wake up from his brain injuries. Doctors have taken him off the ventilator and are now working towards weaning him off oxygen. The fractures on his spine and neck are healing well, and he will have surgery this week to set his jaw. He is moving both legs and arms spontaneously and frequently on command. The Physical therapy team comes often, working on sitting in a chair, moving his legs, sitting up and even standing (all with his eyes closed). The doctors do not have a firm prognosis as patients with traumatic brain injuries recover at a varied rate. He could wake up next month or in a year with a wide range of possible outcomes. Either way, Ron and his family have a long, tedious road to recovery. We cannot thank you all enough for your continued support and donations. We wouldn’t be able to do it without everyone.
