My dear friend, Chris was in a very serious, life-altering accident in late 2024. The accident resulted in emergency spinal cord surgery which left him paralyzed from his neck down. After recovering from the ICU, his mother was told that he would never move his body again...This was devastating news, but as he learned how to breathe and speak again while there, his mother spent every day and night, in the hospital, moving his body around which lead him to moving his finger! This bit of hope, allowed Chris to be moved to a rehabilitation center in Toronto for several months. The rehab center did not know if he would ever walk again...But we all know Chris to be a fighter, and he miraculously started to slowly move his arms, neck and just recently, his legs. The time at this rehab center, where he has daily rehab classes working on his movement, was limited for new patients to keep moving through. This resulted in Chris moving to an independent living situation, and his family is funding his private daily rehab, as this is not covered by OHIP. The rehab therapists believe that Chris has high potential of eventually learning to stand on his own, which would lead to walking with a walker. This amount of private rehab would allow him to finally be independent again. Please help with any donation possible to assist his mother to help pay for the required rehab cost which will allow Chris to heal and live a hopeful life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and all of Chris's family.
