Hi, my name is Miranda Ramirez Puente and I am fundraising on behalf of my parents, San Juanita and Richard Ramirez. On August 1st, 2024, my father Richard Ramirez Sr., was riding his motorcycle along Highway 85/Carrizo Springs, when he was in a collision with another vehicle. Due to severe injuries, he was airlifted to University Hospital Trauma Center in San Antonio. He suffered a broken shoulder, dislocated collar bone, multiple fractured ribs, and a bleeding pelvic fracture, as well as head lacerations. He has been stabilized and transferred to the ICU. He will require multiple surgeries in the weeks ahead before he can begin his long road to recovery. With my father’s recovery, comes many unknowns about the future as well as his mobility and his inability to return to work. My mother San Juanita, is his rock, and has not left his side. She will not return to work as she will be helping my father through his long recovery and stay in San Antonio for an unforeseen amount of time. Without their income, my parents will endure financial hardships. We are asking for your support, both emotionally and financially, during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a tangible difference in easing the burden of medical expenses for my father. Your generous donations will go towards covering hospital bills, rehabilitation programs, necessary medical equipment, and potential future procedures. Moreover, we kindly request that you keep my parents in your thoughts and prayers. The road to recovery will undoubtedly be challenging, and your moral support will provide them with the strength and courage they need to face each obstacle head-on. Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and unwavering support. **08/04/23 UPDATE** After more scans/tests, it appears that both of my fathers thumbs are broken up to his wrist. His ribs are not fractured, but broken. His pelvis was broken into 3 pieces. He is developing blood clots due to the bleeding vessel and lack of movement due to his injuries. This morning he will be going into surgery to have a screening filter attached to the vessel to prevent blood clots from reaching his head. He will have 1-2 plates placed and screwed in order to repair his broken pelvis. The doctors have informed us that my father will not walk at all for a minimum in if 3 months. At which point, they will attempt to stand him up. He still has his shoulder repair and hand repair surgeries in the weeks to come. We will begin looking into rehabilitation facilities/nursing homes where my father can begin his recovery after all of his surgeries are completed. We are asking for continued prayers for my father as we have a long and difficult road ahead of us. Thank you for your continued support!
