July 31, 2024 UDDATE from Bre’s Dad Day 7. We have learned so far that good news and progress might not linger very long. Yet, we must cling to such moments to help with the darker times. Today Renner opened his eyes for the briefest of moments when his mom and aunt Ky were watching him. To both of them it was his way of saying "I am here". The Nurologist has seen a dramatic difference with his brain wave activity in the positive. The flip side to this is that Renner is still on the Pentobarbital which is shutting down the chance for seizure formation. Today they are very slowly weening him off pento. The balance between wanting to see Renner awake and alert vs calm and seizure free is going to take more time to navigate. He shivers with being so cold and they give him a paralytic to calm the shivers. One more thing of many his teams keeps in the balance. Everyone here is working on shifts around the clock so someone is constantly in the room with Renner. Tomorrow will hopefully be another good day where we can say we had 2 in a row! July 29, 2024 Hi, I’m starting this fundraiser for my friend Breanne Martine and family, for their sweet Renner. On July 25, 2024, 6 y/o Renner was sitting with his Mommy when he suddenly had a seizure. (No prior history) She was by herself in a parking garage and called 9-11. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance where he continued to seize for 13 hours. He was intubated, hasn’t been awake and been in the PICU since. On Friday, they were hopeful that he was on his way to slowly waking up. However, it was discovered that he was going in and out of seizures. The doctors are calling this, a “unique case”, as they don’t yet know the cause. The MRI shows absolutely nothing. They are continuing to run tests to try to find answers. Also, Ren’s future is unknown at this time. His cognitive ability may be slightly or even severely altered. The hope is, he will return the spunky little boy he was when last awake. Bre and Ren were visiting Spokane, Washington when the incident occurred, 2000 miles from their home in Spartanburg, SC. This has caused extra mental stress as well as financial stress, along with the thoughts of future medical bills. Bre is a flight attendant, who will not be working for an unforeseeable time. Many people have reached out, asking how they can help. Breanne and family are incredibly thankful for each of you. Ren is in the PICU, the family rotates their time with Ren between the hospital and the Ronald McDonald House. Meals and care packages would be difficult to navigate at this point. Giving donations would be the most help at this time. Bre has mentioned many times how overwhelmed she is by everyone’s love, kindness and support. It means a lot. Please help this Mommy focus on her little boy and getting him better. Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated.
