Hi everyone, I am Lena Reich, the English as an Additional Language Teacher for Kentucky Refugee Ministries Covington. The refugee ESL students at KRM have really enjoyed not only learning English but building a community together and getting to know each other through events and experiences. We are planning a class trip to Kings Island on Monday, August 14th! The students and their families are very excited to go on a trip together and experience something very quintessentially American - a theme park!! Most of our students have never been to a theme park and they have all faced difficulties and challenges in their resettlement to the US. Going to Kings Island will be such a memorable and meaningful experience for them. We need your help in raising money for our tickets and parking. If you donate $55, you would be paying for one student's admission to the park. Of course, any amount is welcome, thank you so much!! **Edit: Total has been updated to reflect the correct number of students (30) and extra fees from Kings Island and LFEBridge websites. We are buying tickets for 30 students + 10 staff and volunteers, with students' tickets taking first priority. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/groups/discounts Each student will be given a ticket that includes admission, one meal, and a drink pass for the day. Breakdown: Ticket (admission, meal, drinks) = $55 $55 x 40 people = $2200 Parking for 10 cars ($30 x 10) = $300 $2200 + $300 = $2500 Kings Island website fees and taxes = $70 LFEBridge website fees (2.9% per donation) = $80 Total = $2650 If due to cancellations or extra donations, there are any excess funds, we will be using them towards our next ESL event, as the students seem to enjoy them so much.
