Hi my name is Vicki and I started working with shelley over 3 years ago after she was my line manager. The last 3 years we have become good friends. Not only is she an inspiration that I admire but also a beautiful person and so hard working. Shelley has recently changed her job role in our place of work and bought her own house all on her own. A few weeks ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was with her when they told her and to see someone who you always saw as strong and unbreakable, break down really broke my heart. Personally, I have never been through having someone as close to me have cancer and now its opened my eyes to how much it affects a person, not just emotionally, physically but financially aswell. Shelley has always been hardworking, not ringing in sick in all the years iv known her. When she was diagnosed she wasn't worried about the cancer but more about the fact of paying her mortgage and also travelling costs and how much time she would need off sick. Lucky for us we work for an amazing workplace who have been very supportive with her appointments and support. I just want to raise something to take the burden off her worrying. As you can imagine, it's a worrying time as it is. I know all her colleagues love her and are all helpless in what to do to help, and shelley is such a strong, independent woman, never asking for help, I know we can all help donating something, no matter how small. Thank you all in advance. We will keep people updated with her progress and also when her chemotherapy starts the 17th August ,I will be shaving my hair off with her and donating it to the little princesses trust, which will not only make a difference to all little girls going through chemotherapy but also showing support to my good friend, who isn't going through this alone.
