On July 8th my Ashley was medivacked to Providence hospital with a subdural hematoma. She was rushed into surgery immediately, after a fairly lengthy surgery the neurosurgeon came out to talk to us. He explained that Ashley was very sick, that Ashley had a craniectomy to relieve pressure and that her brain was pushed to the left side and it damaged her brain stem. When we asked if she would ever wake up his reply was “unlikely”. Well Ashley has defied all odds and the next day while in ICU, hooked up to all kinds machines and a ventilator Ashley was able to squeeze her loved ones hands and give a big thumbs up. Ashley has made a lot of progress but still has a long way to go. She is going to need months of rehabilitation and another surgery. We are raising money to help her and her family be able to provide the best care possible and take some of the financial burden off of them (traveling, missed work, and so on) as well as medical equipment, adaptive equipment that may be needed and eventually when she can return home we need to have that set up to meet her needs, such as railings, bathroom modifications and anything else that ensures Ashley’s safety. Ashley is a fighter and can’t wait to be able to be home with Ben, play with the kids, love on pup pup and tend to her garden. We have set up an account for Ashley and her family and hope to help them out. Thank you
