On June 14th 2024, Our 1 year old Queen Qiyara was diagnosed with Bilateral Wilms Tumors. About 5% to 10% of children with Wilms tumors have bilateral disease (tumors in both kidneys) We noticed her stomach growing and getting harder. Queen LOVES to eat. It’s her FAVORITE thing to do. So when we noticed her not eating as often as she normally does, we thought she was just full. Her stomach began to grow larger and feel harder to the touch, so we took her to her primary care physician. As the doctors began to examine Queen, they also began to panic in a way that we have never experienced throughout the two generations of going to the same office. Her doctors are wonderful! The Dr. took urine samples, ordered blood tests, x-rays, and an ultrasound! She was completely honest about what this could be, which was one of two things. Either Bowel back up or Wilms Tumors. We were hoping for the first. As the test began to come back the doctor contacted a specialist. We took Queen to the hospital in which she stayed to get a CAT scan and a MRI. The cat scan showed nothing in her lungs but unfortunately the MRI showed Tumors in both of her kidneys. One Kidney has a tumor as large as the kidney and the other has multiple tumors. This is when she received the diagnosis of the Bilateral Wilms Tumors. The cancer is in stage 5 due to it being in both kidneys. The Specialist informed us that they haven't had a case like this in 11 years. Queen had a port inserted into her chest on June 16th in order for her to receive weekly chemo treatments. They are hoping to shrink the tumors down in order for her to go to St. Jude's in Memphis Tennessee where there is a surgeon who specializes in Wilms Tumors. Queen took her first chemo treatment like a champ! She looked a little woozy for like 20 mins then went right back to her normal self ready to EAT! We are trying our best to be mentally prepared for the unexpected! We see people fighting cancer all the time. Also, we had several losses in our own family that were very dear to our hearts! Getting the news that our 1 year old, our Queen, has to fight this awful disease is very difficult to accept and seems so unfair! With a long road ahead of us we need your help! We are asking for monetary donations in any amount to help offset the cost of Queen's journey to recovery. Any monetary gifts will be used for Queen special childcare. In addition, to help with bills due to her parents having to take off work to make sure she gets to and from her treatments. Your monetary gift will assist with travel expenses (prayerfully in 6 weeks). During this time we are believing in God for the tumors to be removed when she has surgery. Thank you in advance for your monetary support . We are asking for your continued love, encouragement, prayers, and monetary support as we lock hands and travel this unexpected journey with Queen. Queen is a walking miracle. She might be small but she is very strong. God is still a Healer! Please continue to follow Queen's Journey!
