Recently, a close friend to many of us and a pillar in this community was taken to the hospital and remains in the ICU. Paul Dean Martin, founder of the PDM Young Actors Workshop, will remain there for the foreseeable future with a brain tumor- and we do not know when he will be able to come home. Paul Dean found a brick-and-mortar location for the family business- finally realizing his lifelong dream- but currently, he is unable to direct the shows or manage anything at the studio. He has regularly donated the space to girl scouts, many church groups, and other instructors as a home to meet, worship, and teach. His family is scrambling to maintain the studio, with his teenage daughter Phoebe now directing the current show, Grease, and his son Maxwell stepping up to handle tech for the shows. Phoebe is currently a college student at a school for performing arts, which has been her lifelong passion as well as her father's. Max is about to enter his freshman year of high school; he is his father's “best buddy.” We are reaching out today to request support and assistance for Paul-Dean Martin and PDM Studios. Paul-Dean is an incredibly talented and determined individual who has been on a quest to achieve his dream to rebuild his youth theater program post-COVID by providing a location for youth in Southern California to learn and practice their skills and produce shows for the public. All young actors participate in productions at PDM Studios regardless of their prior theater experience. PDM Studios classes cover all aspects of theater performance and production. As some of you know, Paul-Dean was hospitalized a week ago with several health issues, the most devastating being a brain tumor. At this time tests are being run to determine a plan of action. But the theater program, which is now being run by family and friends, is in an unknown state financially - and looking ahead- could be in peril. His wife, Janet, is a special education teacher in the Placenta-Yorba Linda school district who is also extremely dedicated to her friends, family, and others in need. Along with her family, she is warm and welcoming to all she comes across. Paul Dean is an active member of the community; his 10-year involvement with the CHOC Follies has helped garner 10 million dollars for the children's hospital in Orange County and the funding to build the Ryan Seacrest Studios at said hospital. Paul-Dean was in the process of creating a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit for PDM Studios but his efforts have been delayed due to his sudden hospitalization. They say it takes a village, and this effort just might! Friends of Paul-Dean have set up this LFEBridge to keep the theater operating while Paul-Dean gets the medical help he needs. We believe that every small act of kindness can create a ripple effect to help Paul-Dean's dream continue. By making a donation, you can play a pivotal role in helping Paul-Dean overcome his challenges and transform his dreams into reality. No contribution is too small, as every penny counts towards making a difference for the future of PDM Studios and for Paul-Dean. The greatest need at this time is to help PDM Studios meet their monthly property lease. To the children and parents directly involved in his program, he is like family. Many of his students are on scholarships, where they can participate in shows based on financial need. He is often the first to offer support to families and do anything he can to help out the community. If you know Paul-Dean, or have simply even crossed paths with him, you will understand the depth of his character. You will never meet another human being with a bigger heart or larger passion Thank you for taking the time to read about Paul-Dean Martin and the challenges PDM Studios faces. We hope the support he receives will make a difference with the work that has been started and enables this dream to continue.
