I’m not even sure I can put into words how God has been moving in my life over the past few months, but it has surely been miraculous and incredible. Last January I attended our church’s annual women’s conference. The speaker was Dr. Lori Basey, founder of No Boundaries International (NBI), which identifies as a “faith-based, trauma-informed organization that connects those that want help with those that need help the most.” After listening to story after story about the work NBI is doing with their friends (the homeless, prostituted, and destitute) in Oklahoma City (OKC) and globally, it was clear that they live and breathe to serve and share Jesus with those who need the most help. By the end of the conference, I knew I was supposed to go to OKC to see the work they were doing in person. In July 2024, a group of women and I from St. Andrews Church made the trip to OKC and spent a week with the NBI team. By the end of the week, I knew God was calling me to stay and learn. At the same time, the NBI team was also feeling led to ask me to return and work with them full-time! They had been praying for over a year for someone to come help set up processes/systems to help their friends that want to transition off the streets and get the help they desperately need, so I will have an opportunity to use my case management skills doing what I love, specifically for Jesus! I will be moving in October to begin working as a volunteer inner-city missionary with NBI to help develop systems to provide more support for their friends coming off the streets and into places where they can receive the help/healing they so desperately need. I will also be taking several trips a year with their global missions team to work with prior child soldiers and those who have been trafficked, to offer trauma-informed healing and restoration.
