Hi, my name is Melissa, I’m fundraising for my dear sweet friend Valerie Haggett Mullins and her family. I’ve known Valerie and her son since 2014. Her son is my son’s best friend and we are very worried about them as they go through the greatest struggle of their lives. They are a wonderful family facing extreme financial and medical hardships right now. The Mullins family was a one-income homeschooling family until earlier this year. Valerie’s husband David became very sick and they later found out he had recently had 4 strokes. During this time, due to David's strokes clouding his thinking process, he unexpectantly quit his job. This left the Mullins family with no income, no insurance, no savings and no resources. They are struggling to pay their mortgage, car, utilities and medical bills. Even the ability to put food on the table is difficult. Valerie and her son are doing everything they can think of to survive right now. They are also trying to help David recover and get the resources he needs to heal. Valerie’s young son is mowing yards in this extreme heat to try to help the family. He is too young to have to worry about providing for his family and should be focused on getting through school and being a kid. He is an amazing, sweet boy that is doing everything he can to help his family, but this has been especially hard on him. Valerie's husband developed other medical issues due to the many strokes and needs her home with him at all times so it makes getting a regular job very difficult. As you can imagine their world has been turned upside down to this unexpected chain of events. The financial, mental, emotional and physical toll it has taken on all three of them is immense. This sweet family does not like to ask for help and prides themselves on being private and self-reliant but they are dealing with an ever-increasing mounting debt and are facing losing their home and vehicle. They struggle to feed themselves and their pets. Please help them! Every little bit helps, and I know firsthand how grateful they are for even the smallest amount of support. Right now I want to shower them with love and give them the peace to know that they have support as they walk this long road ahead of them. Your help in whatever way possible is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Their son asked me to add the following about his dad, David: “David Mullins was a dedicated Respiratory Therapist for nearly 30 years. He was skilled in his work and he cared deeply for his patients. There were many instances where he would take the time to talk with his patients and encourage them while they were in his care. He rarely called in sick, and he would always go to work even if he was feeling dizzy or weak. David Mullins is a man who really cared about his work and his patients. “ Once again thank you for reading this; The Mullins Family really need assistance so any little bit is extremely helpful. https://youtu.be/zUu3HeK6Odg?si=RKv8Ac-MbJUSlnSh
