Latest news: Unfortunately, Rizah ended up being terminated from her job at the hospital. It's a sad turn of events considering her medical condition and being in the hospital prevented her from working. Without her job, she has no insurance. The expense of getting COBRA, traveling, and having to pay $10,000 up front before the doctor in Austin will do her life saving surgery weighs heavily on her. We have changed the amount of her fundraiser in the hopes of offsetting some of this burden from her. Anything helps, and we are so grateful. Please continue to pray over this situation. Rizah is scheduled for surgery in Austin on Aug 15 and will be traveling there Aug 13. For anyone that knows Rizah, she has a zest for life and always brings the party! She's our goto person to set up and run the games at family parties. She smiles easy and even if you can't see her, you can hear her! This beautiful woman filled with life is now at a point where her very life is threatened. Rizah has heart failure. Rizah had a heart valve replaced 11 years ago. The life of the heart valve is 10-15 years. Rizah is overdue for a replacement, one that the doctor said she needs within the next 2 months. Rizah is currently in the hospital in El Paso and because of the nature of this required surgery, she will have to travel to Austin where a specialist has accepted her case. Austin has the proper equipment in case Rizah ends up needing a heart transplant or another specialized medical procedure. Rizah just started her job at UMC 8 months ago so her benefits are limited and do not cover her procedures in Austin. She also received a call that her job there at UMC may be terminated. Due to her health, she has not worked in a month. Rizah is a single mother who is not afraid to work to make life better for her and her 11-year-old son, Jaden. Unfortunately, her heart can't keep up with her "heart" to accomplish this. If you would like to help with copays, travel to and lodging in Austin, as Rizah gets the procedure she desperately needs, I know she would be so grateful for the help. We would love your prayers for Rizah's health, her medical and financial options, her son, and for all healthcare providers associated with her case. Thank you all!
