My Name Is Ruthanne Kirkwood. I am trying to raise funds to cover the cost of Training a Medical Service Dog for my Almost 15-year-old Granddaughter Odessa Conley. She has been diagnosed with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder linked to hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos, Dysautonomia linked to POTS, Pediatric Fibromyalgia known as AMPS, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Dystonia, and Conversion Disorder. Her symptoms are extremely complicated, causing constant pain, fatigue, syncope (fainting), and sometimes paralysis which requires a wheelchair on really bad days. My symptoms include; syncope (fainting), extreme increase in heart rate and blood pressure, headaches/migraine, joint pain, a subluxation ( dislocating joints), fatigue, paralysis requiring a wheelchair at times, hearing loss, tendinitis (ringing in the ears), vision loss, prosopagnosia (face blindness), nausea, light-headed, gastrointestinal complications, stomach pain, inability to regulate body temperature, psychosis( hallucinations), involuntary tremors, dystonia (limb movement). My diagnosis and symptoms require weekly doctor visits, occasional ambulance visits to our house for IV fluids, and occasionally unavoidable hospital admittance. Here Is Her Story. My name is Odessa, I am almost 15 yrs old. I have always had small medical issues my entire life which caused numerous doctors to make up reasons for my pain; some of which lead to surgeries with bone grafts once my bones completely broke open! Yeah, it is as painful as it sounds. But when I turned 13 my medical disorders robbed me of my childhood. I lost my friends, the ability to attend school, and sports, and completely lost my independence; no teenager wants to be supervised just to go to the bathroom and or eat. Don’t get me wrong I had moments when I was able to play with my siblings or occasionally with my closest friend. I try to stay as positive as possible but I did fall into a depression. I stopped trusting doctors, some even thought I was faking all of my symptoms, which were many and very debilitating and frightening. I started to believe I was crazy because that's what I was being told by doctors and specialists who had never seen all my symptoms manifested into one person. For a year I was pushed back and forth between various doctors that wouldn’t listen to my symptoms, doctors we would wait months to get into for them to tell us they didn’t know anything. While the doctors were unhelpful and my symptoms and pain continued I lost hope in everything. It took over a year of constant battle, and extreme pain, but eventually, a diagnosis that still seems to be a struggle for most physicians. We now know I have Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder linked to hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos, Dysautonomia linked to POTS, Pediatric Fibromyalgia known as AMPS, Trigeminal Neuralgia, Dystonia, and Conversion Disorder. My symptoms from the multitude of diagnoses are extremely complicated, causing constant pain, fatigue, syncope(fainting), and sometimes paralysis which requires a wheelchair on really bad days. Now that we have a better understanding of my disorders and symptoms my mom and I started talking about a Medical Service Dog to give me some of my independence back as well as a much-needed break for my family from constantly being attached to me. I want to be a teenager again, I want to attend school and sporting events and feel safe and confident when I am alone. After much research, we found a great program that trains service dogs specifically for my disorders. A service dog is not only a huge responsibility but extremely expensive. This is why we are asking for support through LFEBridge to help cover the expenses of Training A Medical Service Dog. It's roughly $55,000 due to the extensive training that is required for the dog to be able to alert and assist me in the wide array of My symptoms. My symptoms include; syncope (fainting), extreme increase in heart rate and blood pressure, headaches/migraine, joint pain, a subluxation ( dislocating joints), fatigue, paralysis requiring a wheelchair at times, hearing loss, tendinitis (ringing in the ears), vision loss, prosopagnosia (face blindness), nausea, light-headed, gastrointestinal complications, stomach pain, inability to regulate body temperature, psychosis( hallucinations), involuntary tremors, dystonia (limb movement). My diagnosis and symptoms require weekly doctor visits, occasional ambulance visits to our house for IV fluids, and occasionally unavoidable hospital admittance. Thank you for taking the time to read this and enjoy the photos and videos. Thank you for your support. God Bless Odessa Conley A Year Ago.
