First and foremost, we would like to say thank you for visiting our page and your intrest in our story!7 years ago as i was walking down the street,I saw this dog tied to a pole all by himself. and i thought to myself how the world has changed, people can't just tie their dog up while they run into the store like "the old days". It takes a second for them to meet a terrible fate. As i got closer i saw a sign that read,"i need a good home for Christmas". I looked up and asked, "Why me God? Not again!"My heart sank as i approached him and noticed what terrible shape he was in: he had big bald spots all over, swollen eyes, huge callouses on his elbows from being locked in a small area and laying down, and you could count his ribs... As i reached out to him he coward down and was shaking, so abuse was obvious. I sat down on the pavement and inched my way over to him to offer him water. After a long time, he finally let me pet him. Before I knew it, i opened the car door, he got in and off we went! After a nice warm bath and a good meal, i primped up some blankets on the floor and layed next to him on the couch, only to be woken up by him curling up next to me.. as i lay there thinking of prospective adoptees, unbeknowst to me, God had a very different plan and "my" home became "our" home! This past month, while we were visting Nana, Dunkin tore the ligament and cartilage in his knee, and got a systemic infection! He has been hobbling around on three legs for almost three weeks waiting on "me" to help him! He has to be almost forced and helped just to go out and then he just wants to get right back inside to lay down from the pain!Unfortunately, I myself had a terrible accident! I have undergone multiple surgeries, 9 to date, and atleast 2 more to go...Needless to say, i have lost my job and disability provides us just enough to scrape by every month. I have been writting to several rescues for funding to no avail. I cannot apply for a credit card because i won't be able to pay any monthly payments, as we are already struggling! I have been praying my heart out and begging for answers. Then God sent me an angel, Maria, who told me about this site.Between the multiple trips to the vet, medications, Xrays, the IV for infection, appointment with the orthopedic surgeon, we already reached $1,500.00,which I have to pay back, and then his surgery is going to be approximately $6,000.00 depending on the severity of the injuries when they open him up! Then he's still going to need all his post operative care and revisits, Xrays, and meds. Please know that this is coming from a person who prides herself on independence and strength and usually handles things very privately, But I am forced to put my pride aside this time and beg for help for my son!!It would mean EVERYTHING to us for anything you can do to stop his pain n suffering as immediately as possible, and get him the treatment he needs and get my "Papa Boy" back!!!!My heart breaks for him every day I see that leg just hanging n dangling down while he hobbles.Any donations, prayers, getting our story out to others as quickly as ou can, ANYTHING! We will be forever indebted. We thank you for reading our story and our graditude..... endless Thank you and God Bless You,Gina n Dunkin
