Life isn’t always sunshine & roses. Everyone often experiences hardships & hurdles. And while we are believers in the saying “everything happens for a reason”, sometimes you just aren’t prepared for the hand you’ve been dealt. The past 7 months haven’t been easy. This past December, my mom went to the hospital only to find out she had Colon Cancer. Luckily it was confirmed stage 2, in which surgery was the only treatment needed. She was able to come home afterwards & she healed up great & remains cancer free. But it was discovered during the CT scans for the cancer, my mom also has a large (7MM) Kidney Stone in her right Kidney. Per her insurance we got in touch with a Urologist close to home. We’ve been able to see the Urology Doctor a total of 1 time, as all the appointments have either been canceled by the doctor office or her insurance hasn’t approved for any procedures. The stone being as large as it is, has to be surgically removed. And with the insurance, she is limited to a small number of doctors she can see. As we fast forward to now, my mom is back in the hospital, at Stanford, in Kidney Failure. That stone has grown larger, and now her left kidney is also having a lot of problems as well. As of today, (7-22-23) she’s been in the hospital for almost a week & has had a stent placed in the left kidney, and the right kidney is so blocked they weren’t able to stent it. According to the surgeon at Stanford, the right kidney will remain as is, as it’s not functioning at all, it is in atrophy, and wouldn’t make a difference to remove it or not, it’s basically a room mate & no need to perform an unnecessary surgery when it won’t affect my mom either way. Moving forward, mom has been placed with a port for Dialysis, and the good news it is starting to work! She will remain in the hospital for another week & then immediately be moved to a Skilled Nursing facility to rehab her and get her healthy & strong enough to come back home. The goal with dialysis & the nursing home is temporary, but we are unsure how long Temporary will be. Mom has Blue Anthem Medicare & secondary insurance but it is limited on how much they will actually help pay. And this entire bill, plus the cost of living, will be adding up very fast. It is humbling to have to ask our friends & loved one for help. But, we will be needing help. No amount is too small. If you are able to help out, thank you so much. And even just sharing this post & sending prayers & love is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your love & support so much. This time has been incredibly difficult & stressful, and myself, Tiffany..I’m doing this all on my own plus still having to go to work. I’m truly doing my best, but this is incredibly stressful as I’m doing this all on my own…. From the bottom of our hearts & many thanks, Tiffany & Linda
