Hello; my name is Christian Davis, and I've been having a rough year. I am a life-long Egg Harbor Township resident, student at Rowan University, and have a part-time job to help pay for some of my expenses. Unfortunately, on June 24th, 2024, I was involved in an automobile accident while traveling home from work; a freak rainstorm occurred and while I wasn't driving very fast I still hit standing water and hydroplaned, lost control and spinning, then flipped, my vehicle. Fortunately, I was mostly unhurt aside from a few cuts from the side window glass, but my only vehicle, a 2004 Ford Ranger, was completely destroyed. This truck was low mileage and almost in perfect condition, being purchased off of my grandfather and had immense sentimental value, but now it's gone and I have to try and move on. To make matters worse, I could not afford full coverage and we had to pay to dispose of the vehicle out of pocket. To further add insult to injury, I was given a citation for "careless driving" and had to go to court, and will be required to pay a fine. Attempting to fix my life, I spent all of my money, and some that I borrowed, on what I thought was a great deal; a used 1993 Ford Bronco in what I thought was great condition. The seller assured me all it needed was new freeze plugs and a wheel alignment; I fell for it hook, line, and sinker; this is after several people sold cars out from under me as I tried to schedule an appointment to come see them. Upon delivery of the vehicle, everything went wrong; the odometer didn't work and the mileage wasn't listed, the block potentially has a crack in it, the transmission is locked up, and it leaks everywhere. I was devastated and cried for the first time in a long time; I was so excited to be fixing my life only to be swindled and lied to. We are trying to get the dealer to make it right but we do not expect anything and may need to find a lawyer for fraud (lemon law does not apply to such an old vehicle). Unfortunately, that costs money, and I have absolutely none left; I have been selling off my hobby-related possessions to try and afford whatever I need to fix my life, meaning soon I may not even have a hobby to distract me. I hate to beg for money, my pride being my downfall, but I'm quickly running out of options and hope. I've borrowed from everyone I can, but no bank will give me a loan because of my low income. Every day I spend trying to fix all of this is money I lose from not going to work. I've been actively paying for this mistake and I fear I am far from done with it. What I am hoping to accomplish with this fundraiser is as follows: First and foremost, I need to buy a new (used) vehicle; the prior mistake I made is sitting at my mechanic's while we await the dealer's response and I need to find something that works. Maybe I should have known better when I bought it, but I thought I knew what I wanted and how to get it; shame on me. The bulk of the money I am asking for is to cover a vehicle and make sure I don't get cheated again. Second is to cover potential legal fees if the dealer doesn't work with us; he insists that it is my fault despite not disclosing any of these issues to us, and while I should be covered under consumer fraud protection, I still need legal help to step in if he doesn't step up. I don't know how much that would cost, but at least if I have a car I can continue to work in the interim and try to offset the costs myself. Third is all of the remaining miscellaneous costs; I had to pay to dispose of my beloved truck, I had to pay for a ticket I should have never gotten, and I had to pay to deliver this new headache to my door, all while having bills of my own, including my schooling. While I have not faced financial hardships like this before, I do not want to continue to be a burden on my family, who have been trying to help me wherever they can. I would like to pay them back when I can. I really don't want to have to sell off my life-long hobby collection just to afford to go to work. If you have read this long, thank you for putting up with me, and I hope there is some way you can help. This was truly my last resort, as I've always tried to pay back those who have helped me, but I don't even know how I would begin to do that. If you want to talk to me personally and hear me explain things better, you can contact me by the following methods: Phone: 6 09 2 14 4 58 9 (text preferred) Email: [email redacted] Included below are pictures of my poor Ranger, as well as the Bronco that I want nothing to do with at this point, as it has given me severe mental anguish and I can't even look at it knowing it is fully my mistake. Thank you, everyone.
