Hello! My name is Beth, cousins with Michelle & John Guth and would really love to try to help their family out by raising money to help with there medical expenses & get the testing that Madelyn needs. While all parents expect the occasional cold or stomach bug to strike their children and lead to taking time off of work or running their kids to the doctor, what we've experienced this year with our 6-year-old daughter Madelyn has been far from expected. From January through May, she missed 35.5 days of school because of serious illnesses, and her health struggle continues on. 59 tests later, her doctors haven't been able to figure out the root cause of her symptoms and illnesses. A couple of weeks ago, her neurologist said that he doesn't know what it is and referred her to an optometrist and to Hershey for an EMG. The next day, her gastroenterologist said that he was sorry but whatever is going on with her is out of his wheelhouse and referred her to the CHOP Diagnostic and Complex Care Team. Yesterday, her PCP said that she was out of ideas. While we passionately love Madelyn, the time off of work and the expenses involved in all of the trips to hospitals, doctors' offices, labs, and pharmacies has put a major strain on our financial situation. But we desperately want her to get a complete and accurate diagnosis so that she can get the help that she needs. With the CHOP and Hershey appointments, along with others, coming up in the next few weeks, we want to be able to get her the medical care that she needs and to recover from the last several months. We genuinely appreciate any help.
