Hi. My name is Dave, most call me Doc. We are asking you for help for our Brother Kenny. Many of you know him others may not. Let me tell you about our Brother. He is a kind man, a working man, a proud man and a caring man. He is always there when needed and doesn't need to be asked. Kenny was having back pain. A lot of pain. He tried not to complain but it became unbearable to the point that walking got hard. Medications and the walking cane wasn't helping anymore. The Dr's said surgery was needed to solve the problem. Now like most, Kenny was not excited about back surgery but honestly, he just couldn't take it anymore. He wasn't able to go to work, was having difficulty doing basic things and taking care of his wife who needs his help. The surgery was scheduled. Three weeks before surgery, Kenny wanted to visit his Sister, Faith, (my wife) who was terminally ill with Cancer. He knew he would be limited in activity right after surgery so he wanted to spend some time with his Sister. Sad to say, Faith passed away during his visit. Kenny returned home to get things in order the best he could before surgery because he knew he would be physically limited for a while when he came home. The day came and the surgery was done. When he woke up in recovery, a true horror was discovered. Doctors were called, tests were done and the realization of being PARALYZED was devastating! After multiple tests, the official diagnosis is, Paraplegia... Kenny is paralyzed from the waste-down! Truly, I don’t know what else to say. Think about that for a moment..what do you do? Seeing this man's life ripped apart like this is overwhelming. He is now permanently confined to a wheelchair. Kenny needs all our help now. The Hospital wants to keep him in a care facility until he gets “re-trained” on how to do basics like meal preparation, bathroom use, personal hygiene, etc. Kenny wants to go home, he tries to keep his spirit up but it is hard. He needs to go home, his wife needs him, his family needs him and he needs your help. His home is obviously not equipped to support his new forced way of life. Quotes were received to make the basic changes. ADA wheelchair ramping to get in and out of his house. The bathroom needs to be renovated for wheelchair functionality as well as other basic changes for wheelchair mobility are necessary. Insurance is not an option and the funds needed for these required renovations are simply out of reach. There is no other option. Like I said, as hard as all this is, Kenny is trying to keep his head in a positive place. Your support will go a long-way in helping our fellow Brother. Please, we ask each of you to find it in your heart to help. It can’t be done without you. Thank you so very much. Love and health to you and your family. Dave.
