Hello! In regarding to my friend Katty Those who are so blessed to call Katty a friend know these things to be true: her heart contains unwavering hope and faith; she holds to her work ethic and professional commitments with steadfast stamina; and, perhaps most of all, she is purely and utterly devoted to her role as a mother to her now 12-year-old son. With a bright, wide smile that mirrors his mother’s and a gentle demeanor to match, he truly is her world. When Katty’s defining attributes of hope and faith led her to make the massive move from Chile to the United States many years ago, the promise of building a beautiful family life was fervent. When her son was born, Katty spent many years as a full time mother devotedly and lovingly caring for him while enduring vast geographical moves, as well as deployment separations, due to her former spouse’s U.S. Army career. Her love for and dedication to her son, however, was an anchor in a sea of change. Unfortunately, as occurs in the impartial yet inequitable ebb and flow of life, change can at times be adverse. After more than a decade of building a life in Hawaii, Katty and her family recently relocated to Texas. Shortly after, Katty and her spouse separated and then divorced. Decades-long dreams were lost, leaving Katty with little — but with her hope and faith still intact. Surging forward, Katty has been going full steam with her work. Several years ago she began a career as an associate for Target and, using her own two feet and steel-strong grit, she has been working toward setting up her own small independent residence for her and her son, who she and her former spouse share custody of. As moving day approaches in just days, however, Katty’s faith and hope are being especially tested. Katty has suddenly suffered a catastrophic injury due to an utterly ill-timed fall. Her shoulder is separated and, despite the pain, she is still attending work while wearing a sling and doing whatever she can. However, her doctor has determined her injury will require surgery with recovery time. The surgical procedure is scheduled for August. But time is not a currency Katty is abundant in right now. With no paid leave accrued, every hour missed at work is an hour loss of pay — an income Katty is especially desperately reliant upon right now, with her moving deadline weightily looming. Those blessed with Katty’s friendship know she is certainly not one to ask or plead for help or sympathy. However, we know also she is determined yet desperate. This is why we ask, if you feel called to do so, to help us bless Katty. Every cent and every dollar would be such an immense help to her right now. If you are not in a position to help, prayers and wishes of support are deeply appreciated too! Together we can lift up our friend with her own unwavering faith and hope, and help her continue to shine her light!
