Dear friends and family of the Woodard family, most importantly my very best friend, Darlene Woodard. This fundraiser has been set up to help offset the cost of medical and travel expenses for Darlene and her family. As most of you know, Darlene has been battling many health issues most of her life, from having pins put in her hips as a teenager to having to have two corneal transplants at the age of 32 and 46 and two hip replacements at the age of 44. Then 5 years ago today she went to the ER because she was very sick and this began her battle with colon cancer. She had her first surgery in August 2019 to remove part of her colon. She has had numerous chemo treatments to keep this awful disease from spreading but unfortunately it spread to her liver which lead to another surgery in 2024 to remove the cancer from her liver. She continued chemotherapy treatments only to have the colon cancer metastasize to her lungs 8 months later. She continued with chemotherapy and over time the nodules in her lungs have grown and the cancer has shown back up on her liver. Her oncologist in Jonesboro has referred her to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis Missouri for a clinical trial to keep her cancer from growing or metastasizing to other areas of her body and potentially finding a cure for her devastating illness. St. Louis is 4 hours one way from home and the cost to get to and from St. Louis which she has already made two trips and will be making several more is costly. Her husband, Quinton, has exhausted all of his vacation and sick days to be with her while she has undergone surgeries and treatments and is the sole provider of their family. So I am asking if you can please find it in your hearts to donate to my best friend and her family to help with these added expenses to lessen the stress and worry so that her treatment can be their sole focus. We would be so grateful. All funds raised will go to her medical costs that continue to pile up and most importantly to get her back and forth to St. Louis so she can undergo her clinical trial. Darlene is a God-fearing Mother, Wife and Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Niece and Friend to so many. We all love her very much and she needs our help! She has worked all of her life in retail to help support her family. In 2017 she had her last corneal transplant and 2019 when she was diagnosed with cancer, the chemotherapy treatments caused her cornea transplant to fail leaving her with the inability to drive. So on behalf of Darlene, her husband Quinton, sons Joshua and Isiah, daughter Skyler, grandson Cayden and all of their friends and family, please find it in your hearts to donate to such a great cause. We certainly appreciate all of the outpouring of love, prayers and support you have all shown and undoubtedly in the months to come. God bless you all.
