Hi, my name is Shana and I created this fundraiser because I am in an extremely tough spot and have been for a long time. I lost my apartment last year due to the increasing rental prices and the end of the moratorium. I managed to find a room to rent for my daughter and me, but it's about 35 miles to work one way. The cost of gas today has made my commute almost impossible. Then, a few months ago, I was involved in a hit-and-run accident that left my car totaled. My insurance company subsequently dropped me because of the accident, even though it was only my first one with them. I now have no car and am hanging on by a thread. I am barely getting by with everyday expenses, including rent. To get somewhere, I have to rent a car and those costs are eating up every cent I have. I have been teaching for 21 years, but I feel like I have been stuck in a continuous cycle of trying to survive, paycheck to paycheck. I am terrified that I am one step away from losing what little I have. I need to be able to secure a vehicle and a place to live for my child and me closer to work. I have been trying to dig my way out of this hole and I can't do it alone. I pray for some help to help ease the burden of this financial stress and get back on my feet, so I can go forward.
