Hello, my name is Tami Powers. I've created this fundraiser on behalf of Ryan's mother, Terri Powers and his stepfather Ron Powers. Dear Friends, Family, and Kindhearted individuals, On June 24, 2024, we found ourselves in an unimaginable situation. Our kind, gentle giant of a son, Ryan Roebuck, was involved in a severe truck collision that has left him fighting for his life. Ryan was transported via ambulance and Life Flight to Saginaw St. Mary’s Hospital where he received Intensive Care until they had exhausted their capabilities. He then had to be transported by ambulance, (unfortunately due to visibility issues from the Canadian wildfires Life Flights were grounded), to a Level 1 trauma hospital in Detroit where he was immediately taken to cardiac cath lab and put on ECMO which is a last effort life support system. He responded very well to this lung bypass procedure thankfully, as the cost is exorbitant to be on this machine. The MRI has shown some concussive damage and he is having issues with his motor responses. They are intermittent but he is responding with his eyes and starting to be able to verbalize a little. Doctors say we are going by his incredible will to overcome these huge obstacles, not by the test results. He has fought through a double Stent heart catheterization, broken ribs, collapsed lung and such severe lung contusions he had to be put on the ultimate life support lung bypass system. These are huge hurdles he has faced so far, and he still faces Orthopedic surgery when he's able for the two broken bones in his lower right leg as well as rehab for all his multiple injuries and the toll they have taken on his functionality of daily living. It is a long way down the road before this hard-working young man will be able to resume any semblance of independent life. In the meantime, he has the usual bills as anyone including these astronomical medical bills that are mounting every day. His insurance will cover the basics but will not come close to covering all the specialized medical procedures and ambulance transports he required to save his life. He is a proud person and would never ask for help for himself so we as his family are doing it in his place.
