In the heart of our non-profit organization Alliance Veterans Retreat lies a man whose unwavering dedication and tireless work have touched the lives of everyone he encounters. Pergin Lordan 38 years of age , our beloved Grounds Manager, has been a pillar of strength and resilience for over a decade. Hailing from the beautiful Tablas Island in the Philippines, Pergin is not only a valued member of our team but also a devoted husband to his wife Dinah and a loving father to his son RJ, who is about to embark on his journey to RSU College in the New Year. Recently, Pergin has faced a series of severe medical challenges, which were diagnosed at the Isaih Hospital in Odiongan Romblon. Unfortunately, the healthcare system in the Philippine province of Romblon lacks the comprehensive care, advanced equipment, and specialized medical professionals that are readily available in the Western world. Despite having a paid medical plan, the coverage provided is minimal, leaving the burden of upfront payments for treatments, medication, room stays, and food expenses on Pergin and his family. With their life savings depleted and the financial support from our family stretched to its limits, Pergin and Dinah have been confined to the hospital for over a week. Pergin has been diagnosed with severe pancreatitis, liver issues, and kidney problems, with his condition exacerbated by severe jaundice caused by his liver and pancreas complications. The only hope for his treatment and recovery lies in leaving the island and embarking on a grueling 20-hour journey by ship and bus to the city of Manila, where he can consult with a specialist at the Philippine General Hospital. In the midst of this medical turmoil, Pergin and Dinah continue to embody the strength and resilience that is characteristic of the Philippine culture. They remain steadfast in their faith and united as a family, drawing strength from one another in the darkest of times. While our family has provided financial assistance, we find ourselves in need of additional support. The estimated cost for Pergin's medical treatments, including his stay, dialysis, and other procedures not covered by the medical benefits of the Philippine General Hospital, is approximately 500,000.00 Philippine pesos, equivalent to around 11,000.00 Canadian dollars. As our family rallied together, we have dug deep and gathered $8000 for the hospital stay and his family needs. We have now exhausted every resource available to us, but we have fallen $3000.00 short of the necessary funds. It is with a humble heart and a plea for help that I reach out to you today. Pergin Lordan, a man whose unwavering dedication has contributed to the success of our organization, deserves every opportunity to receive the proper medical assistance he desperately needs. Your support, whether through financial contributions or spreading awareness of Pergin's situation, will make a tangible difference in his life and the lives of his loved ones. Together, we can provide him with the chance for a brighter future, free from the burden of medical distress. Every act of kindness and generosity brings us one step closer to ensuring that Pergin receives the care he deserves. Funds donated will go directly to the Philippine General Hospital held in trust for his final bill upon discharge. Thank you for your compassion, empathy, and willingness to stand beside us in this time of need. Your support will not only impact Pergin's life but will also serve as a testament to the power of community and humanity. Together, we can make a profound difference in the life of a man who has dedicated himself to serving others. With heartfelt gratitude, Wayne and Cynthia Cummings
