Hey all, as many of you know, Wade was diagnosed with Parainfluenza Wednesday. Updates below! We drove to Luries children's hospital Tuesday night, and around 1 AM wednesday he was intubated and put on a ventilator. The main concerns were that he was having periods of apnea that would last up to 10 seconds at the time, and would drop his O2 levels and heart rate significantly. In order to assist him, they needed to put him on the ventilator to regulate and help him breathe while they figured out what the problem was. The goal is to allow him to fight off the virus without the worry of breathing on his own. They have slowly reduced his ventilator to allow him to breathe more on his own, but is still having periods of apnea that last up to 20 seconds. This means his lungs are healthy because he can breathe on his own, but the virus is still there causing him to stop breathing. Many of you have reached out asking how to help, and we are not the begging type of family, however, we will be here until next week at a minimum. If you choose to donate, you will be helpibg with our boarding costs for Yuna, our hotel costs for last night and any night after Saturday (Ronald Mcdonald house is helping us until then) and food for mom and dad. We want to thank each and every one of you that have reached out with your thoughts, prayers, and assistance so far. It is not unnoticed and is absolutely appreciated. Much Love, Harrison, Aubrey, Wade, and Yuna Draves. Final Update: Wade and Mom and dad are home! Your help had helped us offset the costs of wades stay as well as buying us many coffee's and meals. Thank you all so much for your help. Update #8: 6/7/23 1330 He was able to come off of the vent and he's doing so good!! Doctors are extremely impressed with his progress. He's now sleeping and tootin up a storm! Plan is to monitor the next 48-72 hours and then release if he does well! Update #7: 6/7/23 1130 Wade did very well over night! We are about to extubate in the next hour and pray everything goes well. They will put him on O2 to see how he responds and hopefully doesnt need to be re-intubated. Thank you for the continued support! We have been able to eat healthier food instead of cheap junk food so we can make sure we are healthy for him. Update #6: 6/6/23 1730 Wade aced his tests with with the only vent support being that it would help when he breathed. Meaning he was breathing all on his own! The goal now is to extubate tomorrow if he is ready. The will start to prep for this around 0200 tomorrow morning. Thank you all! Update #5: 6/6/23 0800 He has been reduced to the minimum possible on the ventilator which is very good news. They are going to try a couple of test runs without the vent to determine if the can extubate tomorrow. They will start steroids in order to help him do this as well. Doctors are confident he will do better in the next few days, and as we are on day 5 of symptoms, he should be at the peak of the sickness. More updates to come.
