In honor of Owen C. Dewar Jr., I am creating a Memorial Scholarship fund. My son was tragically taken away from us on July 30, 2024, by a senseless act of gun violence. This tragedy has inspired me to help other students reach their collegiate goals by creating a $10,000 memorial scholarship. As a child, Owen Jr. was happy, very independent, and excited about life. He suffered from Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD). In his teenage years, he struggled with this disability, but he never let it get him down. Through perseverance, hard work, and determination he graduated high school and went on to college while working part-time. Owen’s goal was to become a Digital Design Engineer. He was forced to take time off from his studies to recover from back surgery. After recovery, he was ready to continue his studies when his life was cut short at the tender age of twenty-one. For this reason, I have decided to honor my son’s legacy by helping other students with the same learning disability. This scholarship will be available to students with ADD/ADHD in the Plano Independent School District (PISD). Please help me reach my goal of $10,000 in memorial of my son and in the interest of the students that share the same struggle as Owen Jr. No donation is too small and any contribution will be appreciated.
