3 weeks ago our gorgeous Kirsty (aged 39 - not 40 yet) was diagnosed with breast cancer whilst being 26 weeks pregnant with her third child. A baby girl to add into the mix. Kirsty & Joe have 2 beautiful children Stanley is 5 and Stevie is 2. Kirsty has an amazing support network around her in family and friends alike. She is not alone in this battle and is promising to fight as hard as she can muster! She has already started aggressive chemotherapy and has had a PICC line inserted to have her treatment administered. She is expected to receive another dose in around 2 weeks all whilst keeping a close eye on both hers and the babies health. She has been told that her baby will be born earlier than expected by cesarean so adding worry around the health of her baby as well as her own illness too. She will then continue with her treatment, all while already having a family and a newborn baby to care for. At this point Kirsty doesn't know what that further treatment after giving birth will be, as the scans and procedures needed to determine exactly what we are dealing with and the extent of the cancer can’t be done due to the pregnancy. The decision to reach out for financial help hasn’t been an easy one. It’s not something any of us like to think about asking for. A cancer diagnosis on its own is devastating for anyone at the best of times. Add into the mix the normal financial pressures of any new baby. Then the worry of sick pay before maternity pay alongside the added pressure of a premature baby and aggressive chemotherapy treatment we’ve felt like it’s something we could justify doing. This has obviously come as a huge shock to us all but we just have to say the way Kirsty is handling things is nothing short of remarkable We’re all so proud Please help in anyway you can. Let's show Kirsty & Joe just how loved they are in this battle! We have all got you always!!
