(Amber, fourth from the left, is featured in the picture with her family) Amber’s family and friends are coming together to support her where she is in her journey since her cancer diagnosis in 2024. Please take a moment now to support our fundraiser for Amber and her family by donating or helping us spread the word and expand our reach. You can learn more about Amber’s journey below: Who is Amber? Amber is a wife, daughter, sister, mother to her dog, Duke, and close friend to many. Amber is the type of human you reach out to for a smile. Even if you’re not expecting it, you’re getting it. Another thing about Amber? She will do everything in her power to help those around her, and she will go a million steps over to ensure that they are supported and left in an even better place than they were when she first got there. A couple of her favorite things include her dog, Duke, (and dogs in general), Amy Poehler and Saturday Night Live, Build A Bear, and, above all, her family. How It All Started It all started over 2 years ago when Amber noticed that some things felt off, leading her to consult her doctor, who conducted bloodwork and discovered abnormalities. After about a month in the hospital, Amber’s doctors finally diagnosed her with cholangiocarcinoma -- cancer of the bile ducts in the liver. After receiving multiple opinions from different institutions, her doctors agreed that she would need a full liver transplant, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Since her diagnosis in 2024, she has undergone treatment at her local hospital in Rochester, NY, and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Her journey through radiation and chemo treatments had seemed to go well; however, her doctors later discovered that the cancer had spread outside her liver, which meant the liver transplant was no longer an option. Amber continued with chemo treatments to control the spread and has received IV chemo every week for over two years. Present Day Unfortunately, the treatment has not worked as well as she and her doctors hoped, and the cancer has now spread to her lymph nodes, intestines, and stomach. Amber will need to travel back to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for specific treatment and continue to see her local doctors to monitor and manage her symptoms. All donations will go directly to Amber and her family in the hopes that they can focus their full time and energy on what matters most -- time together. Thank you for your donations and help to spread the word; and, if you are still here, for hearing Amber’s story. If you have any questions, please reach out to Natalia Lebrija directly. This includes inquiries about Venmo donations, should that be your preferred method of support.
