My name is Megan, I’m helping organize a fundraiser for our friends Ty and Shaina. Their child, Landon, who just turned 4 needs open heart surgery. Landon developed a heart block in utero while his heart was developing. Landon had multiple surgeries in his first 6 weeks of life including an external pacemaker due to him not weighing enough when he was born. Once he weighed enough he was able to get an internal pacemaker. He was in the NICU and PICU at Inova Hospital in Fairfax. Fast forward to now, Landon is having open heart surgery on August 1 st due to his pacemaker not working properly. Doctors will be going in and removing the old pacemaker and replacing with a new pacemaker that Ty and Shaina (mom and dad) can monitor from home. Landon will be in the hospital for at least 3 nights along with having many follow up appointments for continued monitoring.
