My name is Norma and I want to share my story with you. I am 49 years old, I live in the rural area of Mindo, Ecuador. I have the privilege of being the mother of three wonderful children, but today I want to tell you about my 24-year-old daughter Rubby who faces the daily challenge of grade 3 non-functioning autism and has a severe disability named Treacher Collins. Taking care of my Rubby has been a loving experience, but also one of enormous challenges. She is completely dependent on me for every aspect of her daily life: from personal care to administering her epilepsy medication. I have founded the "Association of People and Caregivers of People with Disabilities of Mindo". However, although my dedication is unwavering, I must confess that it has not been easy; Being alone in the care of my children I face a personal battle, and I am struggling with strong anxiety attacks, depression that has led me to a worrying obesity of 195 kg. This has negatively affected my health and my ability to fully care for Rubby. Three years ago, I looked help from the public health system, but unfortunately, due to the pandemic, my necessary procedure to improve my quality of life was cancelled; I went to request information from a private clinic but its cost is absolutely high and with my economic conditions I would not be able to pay; For this reason, I ask you kind hearts for your support and collaboration to achieve the operation.
