Dear friends, family, and caring individuals, I am reaching out today to share news of a severe car accident that landed me in the intensive care unit (ICU) for five days, with a total hospital stay of two weeks. On June 1st, while commuting to work on the last day of school, I was rear-ended and side-swiped, resulting in a serious car crash that ejected me from my vehicle. As a pre-kindergarten educator, I was eagerly looking forward to sending off my students for their summer break. However, that morning took a turn for the worse. I immediately lost consciousness after the impact at the scene and suffered a concussion, facial and shoulder trauma, fractures in my femur in three places, a broken tibia, broken fingers on my right hand, and a bruised lung and liver. The next thing I remember was waking up in a hospital bed. I am grateful that I survived this traumatic accident, and I give the utmost glory to the Almighty God for having mercy on my life. I am truly blessed to be alive today. However, my journey to recovery has just begun, and I am in need of assistance during this difficult time. Shortly after being admitted, I underwent a successful surgery, but there is still a long road ahead. The accident has left me with extensive injuries that require immediate medical attention, specialized treatments, and ongoing rehabilitation. It was overwhelming to process all of this when I regained consciousness, and I was hesitant to share the news. However, I firmly believe that God has a plan for me and that healing will come. Currently, I am unable to perform everyday functions such as walking, preparing food, or basic tasks like cleaning. By God's grace, I hope to regain feeling in my shins and core muscles, as nerve damage is also a factor in my recovery, and regain mobility in my lower extremities. I am praying for a speedy and complete recovery because where there is a will, there is a way. Despite the mental challenges I am facing, I am doing my best to stay strong as I embark on this recovery journey. I have faith in an amazing God who will guide me through this chapter of my life, no matter how difficult and unknown it may be. For those who know me, you are aware that I am a fun, intelligent, goofy, passionate, and caring individual. Whatever I set my mind to, I give it my all. The next chapter of my journey is going to be remarkably difficult, with so much uncertainty.
