Hi, and thanks for taking the time to read my page. Well that’s it, I have completed a 2000-metre swim on Monday and today I have taken part in the UK prostate cancer 5K march for men around Battersea Park with family and friends. It was a special day and a bit emotional to see so many people supporting the occasion, there were many families without fathers but equally lots of fathers with their family and friends. It was very inspiring. I was in my late 30s when I found out I had a slightly enlarged prostate which was explained to me as normal at that time but I started having PSA blood tests every six months, my test results always indicated a low level of PSA. I was 60 years of age when my doctor said I should stop having the test so regularly and leave it for a year. My first warning at the beginning of that year was when I met an older friend who informed me that out of the blue he had taken a PSA test which indicated a high level and he had since been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. My second warning came a month or so later when my younger brother Marc advised he had also been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. At that point, I decided to go to my GP and request a PSA test only to find out that my PSA level was high and subsequent tests revealed I had Prostate Cancer. This LFEBridge page is to support my consultant Mr Rick Popert of Guy's Hospital, London Bridge who is trying to raise funds to bring a new exciting form of focal therapy treatment for localised prostate cancer to the UK. My cancer was removed by Mr Popert using radical robotic prostatectomy which is very invasive. He is looking to introduce a new laser therapy to clinical practice called ProFocal-Rx which is far less invasive and I wish this option had been available to me at the time of my diagnosis. With the skill of Mr Popert I am now three years cancer free for which I will be ever grateful. I want to donate to his fund and this is my small way of saying Thank-you. I am asking you to please show your support by donating to this page. I am so pleased with the donations I have received to date which has encouraged me to raise as much as I can for this worthy cause, any donation will be very gratefully received Men, please get your blood tested and be open and honest with your symptoms, there are many little things that tell you something is not right. Get it checked and don’t let your doctor dissuade you if you feel you need the test. Don’t be the man who left it too late because you didn’t want to say anything Best Wishes Lee
