My dear friend Sarah D is totally without healthcare currently after sustaining a lifelong permanent injury to her spine and has been in a wheelchair since. Although she would like to walk again. At this point she’s hoping for a spinal cord stimulator proven to be effective and or stem cell therapy. But this may not be possible but she believes as technology advances and rehab even in a wheel chair she can live a productive life, even if it means being in unbearable pain everyday. Since she had surgery on her bladder to be able to pee which failed due to 3 rounds of sepsis and needs another which is her last hope but she wants to spare you the details. Unfortunately maybe about 1 month ago sustained about 3 more back fractures and further worsened her spinal cord injury. She’s in constant pain that’s unbearable and was in the hospital for one month and needs to be in an acute rehab unit for acute spinal cord injuries. She’s a single mom of a now 2-year-old with no child support no home health and no one to help take care of her other than her mother whose also getting older and can’t do it all. Sarah has always been so independent and such an overachiever and go-getter amazing nurse. She needs a disability van so she can drive to medical appointments and take her daughter to daycare and live the new normal life. Meanwhile, she has no friends nearby. She needs a van side entry ramp where she can buckle up the child and turn and transfer into the assessable van with hand controls. Still needs to see many other specialists for her hand, back, and spinal cord stimulator, her brain is needing testing for high or low levels in the brain of spinal fluid and treatment, and rehab to try and get back and prevent further loss of function and further falls so she can go to the bathroom, access a shower, all the little things in life we take for granted which she needs safety set up and assessable housing for her to live and strive for independence. Previously she was an amazing nurse and athlete in many sports; in a flash of an eye, it’s all gone. She needs monetary support for medical equipment, safety, care, surgery, attorneys for her case, accessible van used or new through Braun Ability, and many other rehab services and back pay of bills and future bills. 2 year olds grows too fast and is still to be the best mom ever. It takes many cities and states after a devastating lifelong injury such as this and she can’t do it alone. How she’s been trying for the past year. Well hurting herself more with a broken sternum, head injuries, and broken back again all not healing because she needs help! Please donate money to my friend who needs everyone’s support no matter how large or how small. The cost of an accessible van alone is around 60k just to give you an idea of what she’s dealing with. A used one with the features she needs is about 40k. Sweet Thing is still trying to go to school to further her education in nursing just in case miracles happen so she can help others who went through the same things get the help and resources they need which she never got. Of course, she’s not been very successful at school due to her health but she’s still not giving up. Even though they keep trying to drop her and it’s all online. She’s worked her years saving lives and she needs our help to help save her life! Update at this time can’t continue on to higher level of nursing and needs to pay back student loans immediately :( 8/17/2024: thank you so much for your continued support there are some people on here who donated that I don’t even know, and I am just so thankful for each and every one of you. My custom wheelchair which took about 1 year to get just arrived and I’m have a STEEP goal of getting a used assessable van within the next 2 week! I believe this is doable but will require more spreads the word and the continued efforts from what we’re doing here and my nursing class and some old coworkers at the hospital I worked at the longest! Thank you KP Santa Clara! Together we can make this happen. some may feel more comfortable donating directly through Venmo: @Sarah-Dittbenner
