UPDATE: My son and I were picked up and are now being driven back to Vista, CA from Buttonwillow, CA where we were stranded overnight. We were able to keep cool today, in the 90° + weather, by having the truck turned on and utilizing the air conditioner which allowed my son to be able to sleep without suffering from the outside temperatures. I on the other hand got in 2 - 2 hour naps in between trying to get a ride back and get my truck picked up and haule the 222 miles back to Vista. I am just so thankful that God had and has His hands on this situation and that my son and I are safe and out of harms way. I am extremely thankful for those who have helped donate to this unfortunate cause, because without you I wouldn't have been able to get the ball rolling. May God bless you in abundance for your kindness, generosity and compassion towards my son and I. I am forever grateful and forever in your debt! With all that being said, I am still not out of the woods just yet. After realizing the severity of the potential damage done to to my transmission I am still in need of help to get my truck back on the road so I can take a job when I get the call, getting me out of this rut I find myself in and back on my feet. When I created this LFEBridge fundraiser I had no logical idea of how much this unfortunate event will set me back. I have raised my goal for donations which still probably still won't even come close to getting everything taken care of but I am the type of person who feels guilty for even asking for anything more. I would rather help than be helped is what I'm saying. So if anyone can share this to help me try and reach or even exceed my current goal then that would be such a blessing and appreciated more than you know! Thank you and may God bless and protect you all! Hi everyone, my 11 year old son and I are in a bad spot. It is a truly embarrassing situation I'm in and as a father I feel completely disheartened knowing that my son is being forced to sleep in the back of my truck right now. On Thursday, we drove 500 miles to see his sister/my daughter to celebrate her 3rd birthday. We made the drive north just fine with no issues but yesterday (7/29/23) we were driving and stopped for gas, 250 miles into the trip, in the middle of nowhere and when we went to drive out and get back on the freeway/highway (Interstate 5) my truck made a loud clanking noise before it started making squealing/whining noises which resulted in us having to drive 40 mph for 10 miles until the next turnoff and then another 10 minutes to a gas station before losing my ability to put the truck into gear. I have been having extreme difficulties trying to get work through the union hall that I am currently on the out of work list at. So needless to say I am on unemployment right now and it took every bit of my unemployment to make this trip happen and have most of the gas money that I needed. This trip was important because it's only the 3rd time I've ever had both of my kids together since my daughter was born in 2024. My step-dad helped me with the $70 I needed to refuel my truck for the second half of the trip, before we broke down and My brother helped me with $100 so we can get food and not be without. I know that there are people out there that have way harsher circumstances so it humiliates me to even ask for help. My son Tyler and I were suppose to wake up in 3 hours to get ready for his baptism and sadly that isn't even a possibility now. Please at the very least just share this LFEBridge so that, by the grace of God, we can make it home. Thank you in advance for anything you can do.
