My name is Kyle and I started this LFEBridge to help my sister Melissa. Some of you may already know and for the ones who dont my sister was diagnosed with Cancer (pleomorphic myxoid spindle cell scarcoma) in her lower leg on may 3rd of this year. Because of this diagnoses she quickly got the news that the first step of treatment would be to amputate her bottom half of her right leg where the cancer seams to be confined to, followed by 3 very heavy rounds of chemo where she will be hospitalized and on chemo for 4 days non stop with a three week break between each 4 day round. the beginning of her treatment started June 26th and she is now home healing from loosing her right leg from the knee down. Her first round of chemo starts the 17th of this month. She was placed on permanent disability. She immediately filed for disability through edd and was denied because she had been working as an independent 10/99 contractor as an in home care nurse for a private family. She then went to state disability and was denied and is now in the process of starting the legal process to contest the denial with the help of a law firm working pro bono to help her get her denial overturned. She was told this process typically takes 4 to 9 months for the denial to be overturned and back pay funded which the lawyer will be taking a good part of for their help. The fundraising money will be used during that time to keep her bills paid and to care for her 2 kids who are still young and living at home with her are ages 3, and 12. Melissa is a single mother and has been doing everything on her own and has always made it happen, without the ability to work now her income will be cut to zero until the state disability can be overturn in 4 a 9 months time. Myself and other family and friends have stepped up and are helping her in all the ways that we can but unfortunately just are not able to cover everything for her so we are asking for any help that may be out there. I know it’s hard times for many but if anyone is able to help it is so appreciated and if you are not in a place right now I’d ask if you might be able to share this story with others to try and reach as many as possible the last thing I want to see for my sister is for her to be up against this medical nightmare and also loosing her home and or other things during this time as she has enough to worry about with the cancer battler she still has in front of her and doing it all with the loss of half of her right leg. I know my sister is strong and there is no doubt in my mind she is going to be fine in the end but I don’t want her to have to fight and more battles then she needs to right now. I appreciate everyone taking the time to read this and thank you all in advance for any help by donating or just spreading the story to others so we can hit her goal to get her through these hard times
