Hello, my name is Jeffrey Ray, and my mom’s name is Linda Overy, and even though she has been battling ovarian cancer since 2006, she has a new battle called ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease, it is a rapidly progressing neuromuscular disorder, often with a very grim outcome with a life expectancy of 2-5 years. While she is remaining very positive, the fast progression of the disease has already caused her mobility issues. She was diagnosed officially on March 27, 2024 at Stanford’s Neuroscience Center in Palo Alto. She’s very fortunate to have the best available care. Her Stanford neurologist and team are helping her get a motorized wheelchair. However, this would require her to have a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, which is very expensive. This disease is generally very costly — such as the meds, customized equipment, motorized wheelchairs, and wheelchair-accessible vans. Even used mobility mini-vans are very expensive ($20-40,000). I am asking for donations so she can buy a used wheelchair-accessible minivan. Thank you for helping my mom. It’s so appreciated. Pictured is Linda with her wonderful grandchildren. She has a lot to live for.
