As I train for the Surfer’s Point Marathon, I decided to start a campaign for a cause that couldn’t be closer to my heart: my Mom. My Mom is disabled from Lyme disease and the accompanying co-infections. She got sick fifteen years ago, but the disease went undiagnosed, and she's been unable to work for the past 5 years. Treatment for long term Lyme is not covered by health insurance and mainstream medical treatment is ineffective in cases of chronic  Lyme disease, which my Mom has. Finally after years of searching for a competent Lyme doctor, she was admitted as a patient to Gordon Medical Associates, one of the top Lyme treatment centers in the US. My Mom has run through her savings and had to sell the family home of twenty-five years to pay for medical and living expenses.  Her out of pocket medical expenses average $800 a month. The  goal of this campaign is to keep her in treatment with this medical group for the next year at least ($9600). Two years is our stretch goal ($19,200).Her tenacity and courage in fighting this disease has been truly inspiring, but she very much needs support. That’s where YOU come in! I’m raising money so she can continue treatment and keep getting better. I also want to bring the community together around my Mom. Any donation is appreciated. In return, I’m training to run 26.2 miles! Whether or not you can donate, your support and love means a lot. Thank you.
