Two years ago I was awarded the opportunity to participate in the Junior Bobsled program in Lake Placid, NY. I remember standing at the top of the ½ mile start point as the coach went over the basics for our first run. With an immense amount of fear, I pushed our sled down the track and fell in love. Each run became better and better and I felt as if I was flying through the track in harmony. The following year, I joined the Junior Bobsled group again and was ecstatic to be back on the track. The winter season had become my favorite and I cherished every opportunity to slide. My partner and I competed in the Empire State Games that year and took the gold in our weight class. At that point, I was given the opportunity to continue to slide and train for participation in the National Youth team. The training, although intense, was amazing. Starting higher on the track with better sleds, we focused on preparing for the monobob sleds that would arrive in the fall. The speed and intensity was incredible!Over the summer, I dedicated myself to working with a sprint coach and to becoming a better athlete. I was able to pass the USBSF Combine test and joined the USBSF in hopes of touring with the team around the world. As an excellent student, Northern Adirondack Central School was very willing to help make my dream a reality. Now, as a member of the USBSF, I will be traveling to Calgary, Igls, and Lillehammer to train and compete as a representative of the US team. www.facebook.com/bobsledsam
